When it comes to having a career in fashion, many individuals wonder exactly what they can do. The good thing about fashion is that there are a number of fashion focused jobs and careers out there. Some of these jobs involve working for someone else, like another company, but there are also opportunities out there where you can start your own business and be your own boss.  If you would like to know more about some of the many careers in fashion that you may be able to have, you will want to read on.

One of the most popular and sought after careers in fashion is that of a fashion designer.  Fashion designers are individuals who design clothing and fashion accessories, like jewelry or handbags.  Many fashion designers start out small by making clothes and fashion accessories for themselves and their friends, but many later decide to start selling their own fashions. What is nice about being a fashion designer is that you can continue to make your own clothes or you can hire a manufacturer to do it for you.  You may also want to think about selling your own clothes either locally or online.

Speaking of selling the clothes or fashion accessories that you may have designed, that leads to another fashion career.  One other fashion career that you may be interested in is being the owner and operator of a fashion store.  Fashion stores come in all different size, shapes, and styles. There are some fashion stores that focus on a particular type of clothing, like elegant eveningwear, and others who offer all different types of fashions for all different individuals, like men, women, and children.  You also have the option of selling your own designs, if you are fashion designer, or buying other designer’s products to sell inside your stores, whether they are online stores, offline stores, or both.

Another fashion career that may be of interest to you is a fashion consultant.  Fashion consultants are individuals who advise or consult with their customers on the latest in fashion trends. The clients of fashion consultants are often ones who are unsure about what to wear for a new job, a job interview, an elegant dinner, a wedding, or another important event.  If you have a love for fashion, enjoy keeping up with the latest in fashion news and trends, and enjoy giving fashion advice to those that you know, you may want to look into a career as a fashion consultant.

Another one of the many careers in fashion that you may want to look into is one that is relatively unique.  Each year, thousands of fashions shows take place in the United States. While a select few of those shows are able to make it on the national news, not all are that popular.  Did you know that many local stores and fashion designers have their own local fashions shows?  They do, but many do not realize that they can or have the time to plan a fashion show and this is where you can come in.  You can make money as a fashion show organizer. Fashion show organizers often target local fashion stores and fashion designers to explain the many benefits of having a fashion show to them.  As a fashion show designer, you may be in charge of making the show run well. This often includes booking the fashion show space, designing the stage, hiring the models, and so forth.

As you can see, there are a number of different fashion focused careers or jobs out there for you to choose from. What is even more amazing is that the above mentioned fashion focused careers are just a few of the many that exist.

Can You Make Money as a Fashion Designer? http://nagooglever.com/2009/04/20/can-you-make-money-as-a-fashion-designer/ http://nagooglever.com/2009/04/20/can-you-make-money-as-a-fashion-designer/#comments Mon, 20 Apr 2009 16:11:54 +0000 admin http://nagooglever.com/2009/04/20/can-you-make-money-as-a-fashion-designer/ Do you have a love for fashion?  If that love includes designing your own clothes or fashion accessories, like handbags, have you ever thought about making a living as a fashion designer?  When it comes to being a fashion designer, many individuals feel that it is a dream of theirs that just isn’t destined to become a reality. While this is sometimes the case, it doesn’t always have to be.  With the right willpower and the need to succeed, you can easily make money as a fashion designer.

When it comes to making money as a fashion designer, many individuals believe that they can only be successful if they see their designs on the runways in New York or Paris.  While this would definitely help, you don’t have to be a famous, well-known fashion designer to make money as one.  Did you know that you can make money as a fashion designer making your own clothes right from your own living room or home office?  You can and if you would like to know more on how you can go about doing so, you will want to read on.

As you likely already know, many fashion designers start out with simple drawings on paper.  Many have the dream of turning their drawings into real pieces of clothing or fashion accessories; therefore, many do so.  What is nice about making a living as a fashion designer is that you have a number of different options. For instance, if you were just starting out small, to see how your designs would sell, you can not only be the designer, but the maker as well.  If you would like to hire assistance, either right away or after your business took off, you could do as well.

If you are interested in starting your own fashion design business, you will want to think about having your own online website. In fact, many fashion designers sell their products exclusively on their own online websites, not in some big fancy fashion store.  Of course, if your fashions take off, you could later choose to do so if you want.  If you also want to sell your own fashions locally, you may want to think about renting some business space.  If you carefully choose your space, you cannot only have a sales floor, but you may also be able to have a warehouse where you can make and store your fashions.  This ideal if you are interested in running both an online fashion store and a storefront one.

If you have been interested in being a fashion designer for a while now, there is a good chance that already have some of the many supplies needed.  For instance, you probably already have a large selection of drawing materials, a sewing machine, and likely even a collection of fabrics.  If that is the case, you will find that the startup costs associated with getting your fashion design business up and running are minimal.  For many, it is the cost of starting a business that poses the biggest problem, but it may not necessarily be a problem for you.

Of course, when it comes to running a business, even just a small one, you need to remember to abide by all local, state, and federal laws.  For more information on running a small business, like a fashion design business, out of your home, you may want to think about speaking with your local government officials.  If they cannot assist you, they should be able to point you in the direction of someone who can.

Can You Make Money as a Fashion Consultant? http://nagooglever.com/2009/04/20/can-you-make-money-as-a-fashion-consultant/ http://nagooglever.com/2009/04/20/can-you-make-money-as-a-fashion-consultant/#comments Mon, 20 Apr 2009 15:37:42 +0000 admin http://nagooglever.com/?p=61 Do you regularly find yourself reading up on the latest fashion trends? What about fashion advice, do you like to give it to those that you know? One mistake that many individuals make when wondering if they can make money as a fashion consultant is by thinking that it is too difficult.  Yes, you may not be able to predict what the next new fashion trend will be, but you can help those who are interested in improving their fashion sense now.  You can easily do this because you should have a number of resources at your fingertips. For instance, you could regularly read popular and well-known fashion magazines, read online fashion magazines, watch fashion shows online, or you can even attend live fashion shows. There are actually a number of different ways that you can stay up-to-date with the latest in the fashion industry.

One of the most commonly asked questions by those who are looking to make money as a fashion consultant is how to get clients. When it comes to getting clients, fashion consultants use a number of different marketing approaches. There are many who choose to advertise their fashion consultation business in their local newspapers.  You may also want to think about having your own online website.  When having an online website, you will want to outline a few popular fashion tips or fashion trends, to show that you do have a little bit of fashion knowledge.  You may also want to outline the types of fashions that you specialize in, if you wish to do so. For instance, if you wanted to focus on workplace fashions, you will want to outline that important fact.

Speaking of workplace fashions, if you want to focus mostly on workplace fashions, you have a certain group of individuals that you want to target. This group of individuals is what is known as your targeted market. All fashion groups, including gothic fashions, 80s fashions, and 90s fashions have a targeted market.  In keeping with workplace fashions, you may want to think about buying advertising space on a career searching website or another career focused website.  Those who are looking for jobs are likely to need or want assistance with picking out a new wardrobe.  Specifically targeting those who are likely to be your customers, is a surefire way to make your business a success.

While many professional fashion consultants have success running a local business, you may also want to think about running an online fashion consulting business as well.  While it may be a little bit difficult to do, it is more than possible. Expanding your business to cater to online customers is another one of the many ways that you can go about improving your customer count and your profits.  By having a photograph emailed to you, as well as other important information, you can easily consult with a number of clients through email or over-the-phone.

As you can see, there is quite a bit of work that goes into being a successful fashion consultant, but the same can be said for any other career.  If you truly have a love for fashion, you may want to think about starting your own fashion consulting business. With low startup costs, why not at least give it a try?

Workplace Fashions: How to Familiarize Yourself with the Latest Trends http://nagooglever.com/2009/04/20/workplace-fashions-how-to-familiarize-yourself-with-the-latest-trends/ http://nagooglever.com/2009/04/20/workplace-fashions-how-to-familiarize-yourself-with-the-latest-trends/#comments Mon, 20 Apr 2009 12:53:04 +0000 admin http://nagooglever.com/?p=55 Are you preparing to start a new job or do you just like to always look trendy and fashionable for work?  If you do, you may be interested in keeping up the latest in workplace fashions.  If you are and if this is your first time trying to do so, you may be curious as to what all of your options are.  If you are, you will want to continue reading on.

One of the many ways that you can go about familiarizing yourself with the latest in workplace fashions, like which clothing and clothing accessories are popular, is by buying fashion magazines.  A large number of fashion magazines can be purchased for fewer than five dollars. If you are interested in buying a fashion magazine, you may want to flip through the magazine in question before doing so. While most fashion magazines do have a section that talks about workplace fashions, not all do.  If you are able to find a magazine that does, you may walk away with very helpful information on workplace fashions, like what you should and shouldn’t wear to work.

Another way that you can go about familiarizing yourself with the latest in workplace fashions is by using the internet.  Online, there are a large number of fashion websites, as well as online fashion magazines that you can gain free access to. These online resources are a great way to learn more about workplace fashions, particularly the trends that are popular at the current moment.  Since you would likely be focused on workplace fashions and not necessarily casual wear, you may want to think about customizing your internet search to include phrases like “workplace fashions,” “work wear clothing,” and so forth.

You may also be able to familiarize yourself with the latest in workplace fashions by turning on your television.  As fashion becomes loved by more individuals each day, it is easier to find fashion focused television shows and even television channels.  By checking your television’s onscreen guide or by viewing a printed television schedule, you should be able to see if any upcoming fashion shows will be focusing on fashion in the workplace.

Another one of the many ways that you can familiarize yourself with the latest in workplace fashions is to start shopping.  If you choose to shop online, you will likely find that fashion retailers have their most popular clothing pieces and accessories prominently displayed on their website’s main page. For storefront retail locations, you will likely find that popular and sought after clothing pieces and accessories are often the part of a store display.  Also, by customizing your store search to include those that are focused on career orientated individuals, you are more likely to find what you are looking for, in terms of clothing and fashion accessories to wear to work.

As you can see, you have a number of different options when it comes to familiarizing yourself with workplace fashion trends. As a reminder, just because you see that something is popular at the moment, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is right for you and your workplace. Before implementing any new workplace fashion trends, you are encouraged to examine your workplace environment.  You will also want to keep in mind what is considered acceptable and what is not.

Your Purse Or Handbag Should Match Your Body Type http://nagooglever.com/2009/01/25/your-purse-or-handbag-should-match-your-body-type/ http://nagooglever.com/2009/01/25/your-purse-or-handbag-should-match-your-body-type/#comments Sun, 25 Jan 2009 04:47:23 +0000 admin http://nagooglever.com/?p=22 carrie_underwoodMost women cannot leave the house without bringing a purse or a handbag with them.  After all, carrying a purse along is a convenient way of lugging loose change, a cellphone, a compact, a comb, a lipstick, keys, a vial of perfume, reading material, and all the other stuff that women cannot leave home without.  Toting a purse or a handbag saves women from having stuffed and bulky pockets, if they have pockets at all.

However, as convenient as a handbag is in helping us carry stuff around, what many women fail to realize is that a handbag or a purse is a fashion accessory.  So, because it is a fashion accessory, it should work with the rest of the outfit.

But more importantly than that, when you choose a purse or a handbag to go with your outfit, you should pick one that should match the type of body that you have.  You may not be aware of it, but when someone looks at you, the first thing about your outfit that this someone would be likely to notice is your handbag.  Depending on what kind of handbag you are carrying, you may be drawing attention to the curves of your body that you may prefer to de-emphasize.

It is all about balance.  Just like any piece of clothing or accessory that you have on you, your purse should make your figure appear balanced.  It should hide what you may want to hide and emphasize what you may want to emphasize.

One of the principles that you should be following when picking out a purse to match your outfit is that large handbags go with amply padded bodies, while small purses go with smaller bodies.  If you are a petite person, the type of purse that you should be using is small.  If you wear plus sizes, you should go for bigger handbags.  That is one of the basic principles that you should observe when choosing a handbag.

So, which type of purse should go with which type of curves?  Going with the principle on size on choosing handbags, if you are short with only a slight figure, you should go for a handbag that is small and is something that you can hold close to your body.  Never ever buy a big purse because you will drown in it.  Holding a big purse if your body is small would make you look as if the purse is carrying you, and not the other way around.

If you are the tall and lanky type, with not much on you in terms of curves, your challenge is to create the illusion of having a curvy figure and to hide the straight leanness of your body.  You can achieve this by wearing a purse that is medium-sized and with a long shoulder strap that will allow you to hold the purse close to your waist.  Holding the purse against the waist will make you seem that you have a slender waist that gently slopes to your hips.

Now, if your hips are wide and heavy, the handbag you need is something that will draw the eyes away from your hips and lower body.  The perfect handbag for you is something with a shoulder strap that will allow the handbag to hang just above your hips.  In this way, anyone who looks at you will have his or her eyes drawn to your upper body, rather than to your hips.

Girls with top-heavy figures, on the other hand, would want to call attention away from their upper bodies.  If your figure is top-heavy, the handbag that you need is something that has long straps, something that you can hold close to your hips.  Remember to get a large purse to balance out your top-heavy body.

Never ever use a small handbag if you have a plus size figure.  As we said above, toting a small purse will only call attention to your size.  Always go for a wide handbag that will lend a balanced look to your figure.

If you have the perfect hourglass figure, with your bust line in proportion to your hips and with a definite waist, you are to be envied.  You can lug along just about any type of purse or handbag there is.  But then again, you should still be conscious about the way your purse balances out your figure.  Always get a handbag that is just the right size compared to your body.  So, if you are on the short and lean side, go for a small bag.  If you are big and really curvy, a big bag will work for you.

Always remember that your purse or handbag is a fashion accessory.  You should make it work to balance out your figure.
